Treasure Trove of Sacred Sites
Nekhor, meaning “pilgrimage” in Tibetan (or literally, “circling the sacred”), was first envisioned nearly a decade ago, in 2014 by Phakchok Rinpoche. An initiative of Samye Translations, guided by Rinpoche, Nekhor is driven by a single mission: to connect you with the sacred sites where awakened masters have lived, practiced, and benefited our world.
Nekhor is delighted to announce the celebration of ten years dedicated to researching and studying Buddhist sacred sites. We at Nekhor are excited to share the treasure trove of information we have accumulated over the past decade with you. Beginning with Buddha Shakyamuni, from whom all streams of modern Buddhism flow, and Guru Rinpoche, the forefather of Tibetan Buddhism, we invite you to journey with us through South Asia to explore the physical landscape that forms the foundation of the Dharma.
To help guide you through this journey, we have developed the Nekhor website and App bringing the pilgrim to the exact locations where the Buddha and Guru Rinpoche practiced meditation, shared their insight through teaching, and displayed vast miracles.
Following Rinpoche’s aspiration to make Nekhor a comprehensive and profound source of information on all Buddhist sacred sites, we will dedicate all our resources and efforts to further developing our Nekhor website and app. We aspire for it to become an ever-growing treasure of sacred sites, including those of all the buddhas, bodhisattvas, yidams, dakinis, and awakened masters who have blessed our world.
