Mount Pandava, Where the Prince Met the King

Nekhor News

We are glad to share a new entry in the Nekhor app: Mount Pandava, where Bodhisattva Siddhartha first lived as a wandering mendicant.

Mount Pandava rises above the plains to the north of Rajagriha. Soon after he set aside his royal clothes, the Bodhisattva came to these hills to live alone and unknown, eating the coarse alms-food he was given in the city below. Here he and King Bimbisara of Magadha met for the first time, and the understanding reached between them would one day bring the Buddha back to teach in Magadha.

Mount Pandava follows the Anomiya River. Having crossed the river, this is where the seeker’s life began. The entry arrives as we prepare our forthcoming book, Following in the Footsteps of the Buddha.
